Kieran Trippier has struck out within the style of his exit from Tottenham in Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy, saying they failed to disclose his own plans to market him.
The 28-year-old right-back joined Atletico Madrid from Spurs for #21.7m July, and said on Monday he felt he had taken a»measure up».
Trippier admits that he did not wish to depart north London, but had no choice when his supervisor and chairman did not respond to his orders for clarity.
He explained:»I spoke to the supervisor about his aims and that I did not get a’yes’ and that I did not get a’no’ – therefore you have the impression.
«The supervisor did not say he wanted to move me and I tried to speak to the chairman about it.
«It is not nice once you know the club want to sell you. I heard rumours about them promoting me and it is not fine but it occurs and it’s soccer.
«It is disappointing. I gave everything to the club and that I needed to remain. Everything happens for a reason although I had another couple of years ago.
«Me and your manager didn’t leave on bad terms; he’s done a great deal for me and that I respect him highly.
«it is only a couple things – I attempted to talk to the chairman, I just didn’t get a response.»
Trippier loved a great World Cup at 2018 for England but suffered a slump in shape last year – his final effort at Spurs.
He was dropped by Gareth Southgate to its Nations League however, has returned for this month Qualifiers following his move to Spain.
Trippier confessed his standards slipped but considers Spurs may repent selling himsaying:»Everybody has an opinion – that you have, the pundits have.
«It does not bother me but obviously the lovers… I put the bar high in the World Cup and they understood how well I could do.
«Tottenham got rid of me in the wrong moment, but I struggled with injuries. I might have come back fresh and fit but they made the decision and now I’m in Atletico.»
